The Big Art Journey

My husband and I were discussing where to go after completing the WWII series. His idea was a series of paintings representing 100 years - past, present and future. I gave this some thought and decided I liked the idea of a century in paint. The very next day, I decided to start researching. Although I was less keen on past, present and future, I liked the idea of capturing the essence of 1900-2000. I fixed on the idea of the Wright brothers as my first and then became distracted by the Titanic soon after. I got so absorbed in Titanic, it kind of took over. OK, time to focus again. I spoke to a good friend who is a journalist. He is in the midst of putting together a fifty year edition to his paper. He was therefore so excited by the series and then suggested that I could focus on music, fashion, architecture....WOW! I really hadn't thought about it in all the different contexts. I was a little overwhelmed but loved the input. Looking at my Wright Brothers (almost complete), my Titanic (just completed), I realized that if I wanted to do a cohesive series perhaps this one would stick to innovation. I worked for the National Research Council for many years, innovation and science are indeed a passion. So on with the painting...innovation. Stay tuned for the first couple of paintings coming very soon. Who knows maybe I'll do a few of these series on different topics. We'll see...
