Painter in me
Inspiration and Materials
I primarily work in acrylic paint however like to experiment with texture. I’ve worked with plaster, sand, gels, paper, stucco, impaste and the list goes on. To me, it makes the pieces more dynamic. In that sense, every piece projects its own shadows and has its own unique story to tell.
I find inspiration in people and their faces. I try to uncover the untold stories that lie behind the expressions.

I've spent most of my life in a love affair with art and creating. I’ve been painting, granted finger painting, since I was three years old. A fine art program was an obvious choice in college.
The program director was a well-known illustrator. She pushed me towards an art career as a medical illustrator. Then life happened. More specifically, I didn’t realize that I had to more or less be a doctor that could draw well. In other words, cell and molecular biology was a bit beyond me. I completed my degree but it was in English literature instead of pre med. And so I took another route but continued to paint, sculpt and do various art projects. I’ve won awards here and there and sold as it suited me. For many years I was too attached to my artwork to let much go. It wasn’t until years later when I moved to Ecuador and had to pare down all of my belongings that I realised hanging on to the pieces didn’t make sense.
I wanted others to enjoy them beyond my own walls. With that in mind, I set to painting with new purpose, new drive. Today, I am in the studio creating something most days.
